Pick from Visual
Closer updates
To select an update you want
to install, click download. Extract the saved file into a temporary
directory. Because of the possibility of having conflicting versions within the
same folder it is suggested that you create a new folder when extracting
the setup files. This will insure that you are only installing those files that
belong to the application. Once the installation is complete, you may remove the
temporary file.
There are two types of files
which are available in the Visual Closer Update, files that require
installation into the Closer® System, and supporting files which should be
installed into the Microsoft Windows® System. Files identified as
requiring installation into the Closer® System may follow the
Closer Installation Procedure
(c-below). Support files installed into the Microsoft Windows® System should
follow the general guidelines to
installing Microsoft windows executables.
Closer Installation Procedure
General Guidelines for installing Files into the Closer® System.
Download the desired file and save in a temporary location. The individual
who is installing the update and/or patch must have been granted access to the
Utilities Module and all programs contained with the Utilities Module.
 |
Log into the Closer® System. |
 |
On the Main Menu, select the UTILITIES
Module by clicking the option button located to the left of the module name.. |
 |
Double-click the 'FILE INSTALLATION''
program from the list of available programs (located on the pane to the right
of the available Modules). |
 |
Use the 'Copy From location' options and
browse to the location of the downloaded file. Click the appropriate
file from the list of available files. Once selected, all items
contained within the file being installed will be displayed in the "COPY FROM'
list box. |
 |
Select the appropriate File Type option,
found just below the 'Copy From location' options frame. Select
the 'Both' option if you are not sure what file type you are installing. |
 |
Select the appropriate 'Copy To Location'
device address. In almost all circumstances, you will be installing all
files into the 'D30' device. This is the device file that contains all
the program and associated system data files used in the Closer® system.
Please contact support if there is a question as to the install location. |
 |
For rapid installation of all files
contained within the install file, check the 'Copy All Active Files' option..
Otherwise, you may select which file you wish to install by clicking the
appropriate file name. Holding the <Ctrl> key down will allow you
to select more than 1 file. Holding the <Shift> + <Ctrl> keys down at
the same time will allow you to select a group of consecutive files. All
files selected for installation will be highlighted. |
 |
Click the 'Install' button to
install the files selected (above). |
 |
Click the 'Quit' button to exit. |
Installing Microsoft
Windows® executables
For Windows® ME, XP Home, or XP professional
It is suggested that
you create a restore point prior to the installation of any new program.
If you are replacing an existing application you must un-install (Add/Remove Programs)
the current application library prior to
installing the newer revision. Please contact your system administrator if
you are not sure how to or do not have authorization to create a restore point or un-install an exiting
program.
Download the desired program to a temporary location. Using 'My
Computer', browse to the location of the saved file and double-click the file
name. This will extract a set of installable programs. Double-click
the 'Setup.exe' file. To begin the installation procedure, click the
'OK' button on the Setup screen. Your next step is to change the
installation directory to the drive and folder containing the Closer® system
files ( BASIC2C). This is accomplished by clicking the Change
Directory button. Once the appropriate directory has been selected,
click the 'Installation button' to begin.
Note: While the Closer staff attempts to maintain the latest version
of all dynamically linked libraries (dll) used in support of the application
being installed, it is possible to have a newer revision on your
system. In such cases, you should retain the latest version.
